MAF Freedom PAC Endorses Scott Brown for
U.S. Senate in Massachusetts Special Election
SACRAMENTO, CA – MAF Freedom PAC, the nation’s largest pro-troop, grassroots organization, today gave its full endorsement and support to Scott Brown in the special election race in Massachusetts to fill the Ted Kennedy U.S. Senate seat.
Scott Brown has been committed to our troops and demonstrated that he understands the importance of our missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a veteran of the U.S Army National Guard where he holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
“Scott Brown is the kind of leader that we need in Washington immediately. He will bring the experience and leadership that we need when it comes to national security, our military and the war on terror” said Shawn Callahan, executive director of Move America Forward. “He has served our country admirably as Lt. Col. in the Army National Guard and shares the same beliefs as MAF in that we should keep Gitmo open, oppose the transfer of terrorists to U.S. soil, and that the current administration is not taking the war on terrorism as serious as they should be.”
In contrast, Brown’s opponent Martha Coakley has stated that she opposes the decision to send more troops to Afghanistan, supports the closure of Gitmo, the transfer of terrorist prisoners to the U.S. and an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq.
“Martha Coakley doesn’t understand our troops; she doesn’t understand our mission; and like Obama seems to value the terrorist’s rights even more than our own national security. She believes they should be given the constitutional rights that only a U.S citizen deserves!”
A poll by Public Policy Polling (PPP), a Democratic survey firm, shows Scott Brown has overtaken Martha Coakley, and holds a 48 percent to 47 percent lead as the Jan. 19 special election approaches.
What many once believe to be impossible, the Republican Scott Brown has a legitimate shot at knocking off the Democratic candidate Martha Coakley and MAF Freedom PAC is dedicated to help this happen.

Pro-Troop PAC Endorses Harmer
Garamendi’s Comments on Afghanistan
Dangerous for National Security
Sacramento, CA – MAF Freedom PAC, the pro-troop political action committee, is officially endorsing David Harmer in the special election for California’s 10th congressional District. The endorsement follows recent statements made by Garamendi during a debate where Democrat candidate and current Lieutenant Governor Garamendi addressed the war in Afghanistan.
"It's time for us to wind down the military operation and ramp up the economic and educational programs in Afghanistan," said Garamendi, at a recent debate hosted by St. Mary’s College. "We will not win this war militarily. We will have to win it with economic and social development."
Shawn Callahan, Executive Director of the PAC which supports U.S. troops and candidates that will be strong advocates for them in Congress, said, “John Garamendi’s comments at the recent debate finally reveal once and for all that he has the same far-left, naïve mindset towards international security that caused America trouble during the Jimmy Carter Administration. “
“We cannot negotiate with the Taliban; we have already seen when they are in power, they brutalize their people and harbor terrorists to export a radical Islamic philosophy. They will steal, kidnap and rob their own people; they will sabotage all efforts at improving their lives. The Taliban will be an impediment to any social progress, all building projects, and all infrastructure investments. The only option is to defeat the Taliban.”
The pro-troop PAC praised David Harmer, who said he would “respectfully challenge the president,” speaking of President Obama’s hesitancy to listen to Generals and send more troops to Afghanistan. Harmer would urge that our Commander-in -Chief, “provide the resources necessary to accomplish that mission and not allow political considerations to intervene.”
“John Garamendi’s ‘wishful thinking’, that you can make progress in a war by conceding ground to the enemy, is foolish and unrealistic. President Barack Obama has already procrastinated too long in making military policy decisions in Afghanistan, and things would only get worse if John Garamendi were elected to Congress with his anti-military attitudes,” Callahan concluded.
MAF Freedom PAC is proud to support David Harmer for Congress, as he will be an effective leader, a strong advocate for our troops and a huge supporter of Travis Air Force Base, which lies within this district,” Callahan concluded. “ John Garamendi would be a mistake for California, and our troops overseas.”

Specter and Sestak Both Vote in Favor
of Allowing Terrorists on U.S. Soil
The pro-troop political action committee, MAF Freedom PAC (MAF PAC) criticized Pennsylvania Democrat Senate primary contenders Congressman Joe Sestak (D-PA) and Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA) for voting to allow President Barack Obama to bring terrorists to the United States under the pretense of trying their cases in U.S. Federal Court.
“Polls show that anywhere from 60-70% of the public are opposed to bringing terrorists onto U.S. soil, and countless security experts, former military officials and pro-troop advocates argue that Obama’s plan is dangerous to American national security,” said Shawn Callahan, Executive Director of the PAC. “It is inexcusable for both Sestak and Specter to forfeit national security to try and win a primary election by appealing to the most left-wing elements in the Democratic Party. “
MAF PAC is criticizing Representative Joe Sestak for his 2 votes on October 15, one to block a Republican led floor motion that would have prevented Obama from transferring any detainees to U.S. soil, and another vote that same day to pass the Homeland Security appropriations bill onto the Senate without the restrictive language.
“It gives[s] us the fundamental ability to close down Guantanamo,” one White House official told Fox News. According to that same official the vote, which Sestak was a part of, gave Obama’s team “a sense of victory” in their agenda for closing Guantanamo Bay.
Sestak is challenging Senator Arlen Specter for his Pennsylvania Senate seat in the Democratic primary race. Specter voted to approve the Senate version of the Homeland Security appropriations bill that grants Obama the ability to transfer detainees to U.S. soil for prosecution in federal courts. The two are bitterly fighting each other in the primary race, where the extreme liberal base of the Democratic Party is considered crucial.
“These actions show the people of Pennsylvania that neither Joe Sestak nor Arlen Specter are representing their wishes on protecting them from Islamic terrorists. In contrast, former Republican Congressman Pat Toomey, also a Senate candidate, has steadfastly opposed bringing terrorists into the United States. His common sense support for our troops and national security has contributed to his surging poll numbers” Callahan concluded.
MAF PAC is the political action committee for Move America Forward, the nation’s largest pro-troop organization. Representatives personally visited the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center last year and applauded U.S. troops for the professionally run facility.

Representatives Driehaus, Grayson, Kilroy, Sestak, Periello, Markey,
Kosmas, and Schauer Approve of Bringing Terrorists to U.S. Soil
Pro-Troop PAC Reminds Congressman that Voters Are Watching
(SACRAMENTO) – The political action committee for the nation’s largest grassroots, pro-troop organization condemned eight U.S. Representatives for voting to clear the way for President Barack Obama’s plan to transfer prisoners from Guantanamo Bay to the United States.
Steve Driehaus of Ohio, Alan Grayson of Florida, Mary Jo Kilroy of Ohio, Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania, Tom Periello of Virginia, Betsy Markey of Colorado, Suzanne Kosmos of Florida, and and Mark Schauer of Michigan, voted to block a motion to amend the Homeland Security appropriations bill (HR 2892). The amendment would have prevented Obama from bringing the terrorists to the United States. The motion to amend failed, opening a door for Obama to bring dangerous Islamic jihadists to U.S. soil.
“These elected officials are weakening our defenses against our radical Islamic enemies, and we cannot ignore it. Bringing these terrorists to the United States is not only a foolish move that puts Americans at risk, but it’s an insult to every one of our men and women in uniform who are fighting to keep terrorists at bay. We have already seen how radical Muslims have used U.S. prisons for recruiting, so it makes no sense to bring some of the worst terrorists and imbed them with criminals they can recruit” said Shawn Callahan, Executive Director of Move America Forward.
Move America Forward, which visited Guantanamo Bay last December, has been outspoken and fervent in arguing to keep Gitmo open and the terrorists off of U.S. soil. Polls show Americans overwhelmingly opposed to the closure of Gitmo and the transfer of terrorists to America, with 75% opposed according to a recent Gallup poll. Despite this, these eight democrat legislators joined their colleagues in the House of Representatives and voted to remove a legal impediment to bringing the terrorists to the U.S.
“We find it very disturbing that Representatives Driehaus, Grayson, Kilroy and the rest would flaunt the will of their constituents, who so overwhelmingly oppose this,” Callahan said, “but we are here to remind them that voters are watching their actions and that MAF PAC will continue to publish these votes and inform the voters of what their elected officials are doing.
“If they continue to vote in disregard of their constituents, these officials run the risk of a substantial backlash when voting season comes around only one year from now,” concluded Callahan.
Driehaus, Grayson, Kilroy, Sestak, Periello, Makrey, Kosmos, and Schauer joined a majority of Democrats who attached the prisoner transfer to a $42.8 billion homeland security appropriations bill (HR 2892). The vote on Thursday was 224-193. President Obama made a campaign promise to close Gitmo as a way to appease his liberal allies. Since then, the administration has run into legal difficulties and problems locating a suitable prison in America to transfer the detainees.

Pro-Troop PAC to Endorse Schuring for Congress
WOOSTER - Kirk Schuring is picking up additional support for his bid to represent the 16th Congressional district. The latest group to throw its support behind Schuring is MAF Freedom PAC, the political arm of Move America Forward, the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization.
Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward and Debbie Lee, Gold Star mother of Navy SEAL Marc Lee, will join Schuring for an event Friday at 10 a.m. in Wooster to formally deliver the endorsement.
“John Boccieri used his own military service as a pass to undermine those still serving and demean their accomplishments,” said Morgan. “Kirk Schuring understands why it’s so critical not to abandon the American soldiers who are fighting to prevent further acts of terror on American soil. He will never turn his back on these brave men and women - never.”
Morgan also explained why it’s so essential - now more than ever - to support leaders committed to protecting America. “When it comes to national defense and homeland security, many members of Congress fall short. We need Kirk’s leadership in congress in the vital area of national security,” she said.
The event will be held in front of the veterans memorial at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Those attending the event will exit U.S. 30 and turn left at the fairgrounds entrance. The pavilion is on the left side.

UPDATE: MAF PAC ANNOUNCING COLORADO EVENTS!
Last week, we told you how important Colorado is to this year’s elections. This week, we’d like to ask you to help us make an extra impact in that critical state. As Move America Forward has frequently done in the past, we’re hitting the road and taking our message to the streets in this historic fight for America’s future.
We’ll be in Colorado this week to endorse Marilyn Musgrave and Bob Schaffer, excellent candidates in hotly contested races in this presidential swing state. Melanie Morgan and Debbie Lee will be on hand at each stop to hammer home the point that we cannot afford to let anti-war hardliners run our country.
Congresswoman Musgrave has been a consistent conservative champion in Congress and a staunch defender of the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. But she’s in a tough fight with Betsy Markey, who sees no value in our troops’ efforts to leave a stable democracy in Iraq, and who is much better funded than Musgrave’s previous opponents.
Bob Schaffer has consistently voted to put our troops and our country first, and we need his kind of commitment to American excellence in the Senate. Bob is running for Senate against Mark Udall, who has represented a district in Boulder that is one of the most liberal districts in the state, and would like Coloradoans to forget that he’s had such a radical anti-war record in Congress that he actually co-sponsored Dennis Kucinich’s legislation to create a federal “Department of Peace”.
U.S. Department of Peace - coming to an AFB near you!
Both of these seats are currently in Republican hands, but Democrats have a ton of money to spend in Colorado this year and some polls suggest that it may be enough. Help us cut through the noise and remind Coloradoans of the important decisions they’ll be making this November.
For those of you who will be in the area, we’d LOVE to have you come meet us at these important events.

Pro-Troop PAC Produces Video Ad Attacking Obama for
Recklessly Endangering U.S. Troops in Iraq
Obama Campaign Reaction and Denials Are Full of Holes
(SACRAMENTO) -- Move America Forward’s political action committee, MAF Freedom PAC, today released a new video ad that charges Obama with keeping “our troops in danger so he could play politics with the war.”
Iraq Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari revealed to the New York Post that presidential candidate Barack Obama wanted Iraqi officials to halt negotiations with the U.S. on withdrawing troops from Iraq. Fearful that success in Iraq would harm his political aspirations, Obama sought to keep troops in Iraq so he could continue attacking the Bush Administration for not imposing a timetable for withdrawal.
Melanie Morgan, Chairman of MAFPAC, said, “I have never heard of any candidate deliberately trying to get Americans killed to prove their point. The hypocrisy of Barack Obama to say in the United States that he wants a speedier troop withdrawal date, while telling the Iraqis to stop negotiating, is appalling.”
The MAFPAC ad slams Obama for saying one thing on the campaign trail, “I have a plan that will bring our combat troops home. It is time to start bring our troops home.” But then, his behavior in Iraq shows he wanted -to keep our troops in danger so he could play politics with the war. That’s disgraceful. Barack Obama is unfit to be Command-in-Chief, and is playing politics with our military men and women.”
The Obama Campaign responded yesterday, saying that the appearance of inconsistency is the result of confusion between a Status of Forces Agreement and a Strategic Framework Agreement which combined would govern the legal basis and guidelines for U.S. military presence in Iraq.
But an NBC report at the time quotes Obama as saying, “Obviously, we can't have US forces operating on the ground in Iraq without some sort of agreement, either a further extension of the UN resolution or some sort of Status of Forces agreement, some strategic framework agreement.”
Obama understood that U.S. forces need both agreements in force when the UN mandate expires, and he never made any attempt to separate the two until it became a way for him to try and cover up his abhorrent anti-military position that he took with the Iraqi foreign minister. But he never thought it would be revealed to the American people. He is shamelessly now trying to claim that people are mixing up the two different documents.
”The bottom line is that Obama shamefully and recklessly tried to delay progress in Iraq for political gain. That is despicable and unbecoming a presidential candidate. That is why he must be stopped.” Morgan concluded.

PRO-TROOP PAC CONDEMNS OBAMA ATTEMPTS
TO STOP U.S. TROOP WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ
DISGRACEFUL ACTION TAKEN IN IRAQ FOR POLITICAL ADVANTAGE!
(SACRAMENTO) -- Move America Forward’s political action committee, MAF Freedom PAC, today condemned Barack Obama for “putting his own political objectives ahead of the safety of U.S. military personnel in Iraq.”
Iraqi government sources have revealed to the New York Post that Presidential candidate Barack Obama demanded Iraqi officials stop negotiations with the Bush Administration to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq. Fearful that the success in Iraq would harm his political aspirations, Obama sought to keep U.S. troops in Iraq so he can continue attacking the Bush Administration for not imposing a timetable for withdrawal.
”If these allegations prove to be true, it should be the end of the Obama campaign,” asserted MAF Freedom PAC Chairman, Melanie Morgan.
”Obama should have the decency to recognize that he lacks the moral character to serve as Commander-in-Chief, and he should withdraw from the ticket. I have never heard of any candidate deliberately trying to get Americans killed to prove their point.”
According to the New York Post story, not only did Obama seek to get the Iraqi’s to stop negotiating with Americans on the troop drawdown, he also tried to bully General David Petraeus to agree to a hard withdrawal date.
”The hypocrisy of Barack Obama to say in the United States that he wants a speedier troop withdrawal date, while telling the Iraqis to stop negotiating is appalling. Even supporters of a quicker U.S. withdrawal must be sickened by his conduct in Iraq. If there was ever a candidate who has demonstrated the lack of character and leadership to represent the United States in foreign affairs, it is Barack Obama,” Morgan concluded.
MAF Freedom PAC is the political action arm of Move America Forward , the nation’s largest pro-troop organization. The patriotic group is led by San Francisco pro-troop activist and renowned radio & television personality, Melanie Morgan.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SITE LAUNCH DATE
Friday September 5, 2008
New PAC Will Elect Candidates to Support Troops, Strengthen National Security
SACRAMENTO-Move America Forward (MAF) ( http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org ), the prominent pro-troop group, has announced the launch of a PAC, or political action committee, to be known as MAF Freedom PAC ( http://www.MAFFreedomPAC.com ). The PAC will elect candidates to federal office who share the groups strong support for US troops and the War on Terror.
Move America Forward has become known for such projects as the “You Don 't Speak for Me, Cindy” tour in which military families provided an alternate perspective than that of Cindy Sheehan, and the battle over the Berkeley CA Marine recruiting office, which resulted in TV ads, and several demonstrations, drawing thousands of supporters.
Recently, the group's ‘From the Frontlines’ telethon explored major applications of new media and raised over a million dollars for their care package program. The program runs year-round and sends coffee, cookies, and other items to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan from individual Americans who sponsor them through their website and include personal messages that get printed on the products.
MAF Freedom PAC will draw on the expertise and experience of Move America Forward and apply them to the political field in this election. Their media savvy and good relationships with many in the conservative community are expected to enable them to play a major role in this pivotal election year.
The PAC will focus on very competitive congressional races, but will also address the presidential race, in which Vietnam veteran John McCain is touting his support for the surge strategy and Sen Barack Obama is promoting his plan to withdraw troops from Iraq upon entering office. Targeted candidates will be announced soon, but the PAC's website already features many races which they judge to be important and competitive.
